On Kling they are identical to the cent. On Seedance they are 3x apart. This is the model-by-model breakdown from our dataset, every rate verified July 30, 2026.
The One-Line Verdict
Pick fal.ai for trust, breadth, and per-second billing you can reason about. Pick WaveSpeedAI when the model is Seedance or Wan and you want the cheapest verified rate with 1080p per-clip tiers. On Kling, it is a coin flip — the prices match exactly.
Where They Tie: Kling 3.0
For Kling 3.0, fal.ai and WaveSpeedAI publish the same normalized rate at every comparable configuration in our dataset:

The fal.ai Pro 1080p rows are t2v records; the matching WaveSpeed $0.112/$0.168 Pro 1080p rows are i2v (WaveSpeed's t2v Pro 1080p in our dataset has no audio-on variant). The normalized rates coincide, but the +audio row is a t2v-vs-i2v comparison.

Both track Kling's official rate card exactly. The only practical difference is billing mechanics: fal.ai bills per second, WaveSpeedAI bills per clip ($0.42 per 5s standard clip ÷ 5 = $0.084/s). If your clips are odd durations or you abort mid-generation, the per-second model on fal.ai gives you finer-grained cost control. For fixed 5s/10s clips, they are indistinguishable.
Where They Split: Seedance 2.0
This is the decisive gap. On Seedance 2.0, WaveSpeedAI is dramatically cheaper:

At 720p standard, fal.ai charges 3x what WaveSpeed does for the same model. At 1080p the gap widens to 4.55x. In dollar terms, a 10-second 1080p Seedance clip is $6.82 on fal.ai versus $1.50 on WaveSpeed — a $5.32 difference per generation. Run 5,000 of those a month and the choice is worth $26,600.
Why the divergence when Kling is identical? fal.ai prices Seedance on its premium in-house per-second grid; WaveSpeed treats Seedance as a volume model with aggressive per-clip pricing. WaveSpeed's trust profile is the tradeoff — it is Singapore-based with unverified model-lab partnership claims (see /methodology), whereas fal.ai is well-funded, SOC 2 certified, and carries documented partnerships.
Veo 3.1: Narrow Gap, Different Coverage
Both resell Google's Veo 3.1, and here they are close:

On the Fast tier with audio they match at $0.15/s. But fal.ai carries the full Veo 3.1 ladder — Fast video-only, Standard with and without audio — while WaveSpeed's public table in our dataset lists only the single Fast tier. Wan 2.6: WaveSpeed Only
WaveSpeedAI carries Alibaba's Wan 2.6; fal.ai has no Wan 2.6 record in our dataset.

If Wan 2.6 is your model, WaveSpeed is the pick by default in this comparison. At $0.10/s it also matches the cheapest verified Seedance rate — WaveSpeed's per-clip grid is consistently the budget floor for ByteDance and Alibaba models.
How the Billing Scheme Changes Your Budget
The structural difference between these two providers is billing scheme, and it changes how you budget:
- fal.ai: 100% per-second. Every one of its video models in our dataset (12 records) uses a published per-second rate. You multiply rate × duration and you have your cost. No grids, no rounding tiers.
- WaveSpeedAI: mostly per-clip. Of its 15 records, 11 are per-clip grids (fixed prices at 3s/5s/10s/15s) and only 4 are quoted per second. You pick a duration bucket and pay the bucket price.
Per-clip billing means WaveSpeed rounds you to the nearest duration tier — a 7-second clip is billed as a 10-second clip. Per-second billing on fal.ai means you pay for exactly what you generate. For high-volume pipelines with variable clip lengths, model the rounding: WaveSpeed's headline $0.10/s can effectively rise if your clips don't land on tier boundaries. For fixed 5s or 10s clips, the grids are exact and WaveSpeed's raw price advantage on Seedance and Wan stands.
Worked rounding example: a 6-second 720p Seedance clip. On fal.ai you pay $0.3034 × 6 = $1.82. On WaveSpeed, 6 seconds rounds up into the 10-second tier at $1.00 — still cheaper, but your effective rate is $1.00 ÷ 6 = $0.167/s, not the advertised $0.10/s. The per-clip grid raises your effective rate by 67% ($0.10 → $0.167/s), erasing about a third of the discount vs fal on off-tier durations: your headline saving of $0.2034/s shrinks to $0.137/s. WaveSpeed remains the value pick here. The lesson: normalize both providers to your actual clip-length distribution before trusting the sticker rate, which is exactly what our per-second index does.
Model Coverage at a Glance
Breadth is part of the decision, not just price. In our dataset WaveSpeedAI spans four video models (Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Wan 2.6) across 15 records, while fal.ai spans three (Seedance, Kling, Veo) across 12 records — no Wan. fal.ai's real breadth advantage is outside this dataset: its catalog runs to dozens of video models and a much larger multimodal library overall, versus WaveSpeed's tighter video lineup. If your roadmap needs models beyond the big four — niche or day-zero releases — fal.ai's catalog depth is the tiebreaker even where WaveSpeed wins on unit price.
When to Pick Which
Choose fal.ai if:
- You need Kling (identical price, better per-second granularity) or Veo Standard tiers
- Trust and compliance matter (SOC 2, funded, documented partnerships)
- You want one API key across 30+ video models and predictable per-second math
- Your clips are variable-length and you don't want per-clip rounding
Choose WaveSpeedAI if:
- Your model is Seedance 2.0 (3x–4.5x cheaper) or Wan 2.6 (fal doesn't carry it)
- You want explicit 1080p per-clip tiers at $0.15/s
- Your clips are fixed 5s/10s durations that land cleanly on grid boundaries
- Raw per-second cost outweighs partnership-verification concerns
